Who are you? What have we done to each other? These are the two questions Nick Dunne finds himself asking on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary, when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police suspect Nick. Amy's friends reveal that she was afraid of him, that she kept secrets from him. He swears it isn't true. A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they weren't made by him. And then there are the persistent calls on his mobile phone. So what did happen to Nick's beautiful wife?

Beige Notes

(beige notes are gonna be things that I liked, whether it involves plot, characters, themes or anything relevant)

The title kind of gives away what this book is about, a girl that goes missing but let me tell you it's not all that simple. There are the obvious suspects or one specific suspect. Everything points to someone but the way things unfold is what's so interesting. I love the dual perspective we get reading this and the dual timeline. One moment we're following Nick presently and the next we're following Amy's past. The great thing is you don't lose track of where you are, it's just an easy read.''

The next important point for me is that there is no hero and there is no villain. Both main characters are extremely toxic individuals and their relationship is even more astonishingly worse but for some reason

I think many can agree that Amy is quite the sociopath and because of that it made the book somewhat interesting. I think this is one of the first thriller books I have read and it's great for beginners but thriller is not a genre I particularly like. Amy is someone we fantasize about becoming; badass.

Black Notes

Let's just say in terms of enjoying this read, it slightly went the other direction. I was hopeful of liking this but I struggled to in . It's bee over two months since my last review and believe me when I say I jumped straight into this book right after. The story has so many insane plot twists but the ending was kind of disappointing and kind of concerning.

Recommendation

My rating: 7/10

If you are a thriller-seeking individual and can get your wits from reading this novel filled with heaps of twists and turns, please try it. I have come across many reviews that have high praise of this book and I definitely believe that many of you will love it. I highly recommend this book if you want something different, something where the antagonist is right in front of your eyes, roles reversed.
